About Brisbane Time, Queensland & No DST
Brisbane — No Daylight Saving Time!
Brisbane and Queensland are unique in that they do NOT observe Daylight Saving Time. Queensland stays on AEST (UTC+10) all year round. This means during summer (October–April), Brisbane is 1 hour behind Sydney and Melbourne (which move to AEDT UTC+11). In winter, all eastern cities are on the same AEST (UTC+10).

Why Queensland Refuses DST
Queensland voters have rejected Daylight Saving Time in three referendums (1992). The main reasons: the sun rises and sets earlier in the subtropical climate; farmers worried about disrupted cattle routines; and children going to school in the dark. Additionally, Queensland's latitude means longer summer days aren't as needed as in southern states.
